One synonym for the word covenant is “treaty.’…a solemn agreement…marriage is a covenant between husband and wife…’ Using that degree of accessible language, each of the eight covenants/names God is beautifully examined and explained in the following pages, Hence he used the instrument of a covenant to accomplish that. Then, as time went on and or understanding and relationship with God deepened, the covenants became more involved and elaborate.’ Referencing Adam and Eve and their sin, he states, ‘Since man was in a fallen state, separated spiritually and essentially hostile to God, God had to woo man to encourage him to return.
